our curriculum
our mission
At Woodhams Farm Day Nursery, we are dedicated to creating a nurturing and enriching environment where children can thrive through hands-on learning, exploration, and emotional growth. We believe in the power of the outdoors, using nature as an extension of the classroom to inspire curiosity, creativity, and physical well-being. Our approach fosters emotional regulation, helping children develop confidence, resilience, and a positive mindset.
We are committed to building strong, positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, and the wider community, ensuring a collaborative and supportive network for growth and learning. By continuously reflecting on and adapting our practices, we strive to meet the unique needs of every child, encouraging them to reach their full potential.
We prioritise professional development, empowering our staff with the skills and knowledge needed to provide the highest quality care and education. With integrity and passion, we support children in building the life skills they need for a bright future, while creating a lasting, positive impact on their families and the community
our curriculum & pedagogy
We have carefully crafted six key themes within our child centred curriculum, each designed to support our children through play to develop the fundamental skills they need to thrive not only through their education but throughout life. We recognise how crucial it is for children to learn how to be sociable and to communicate their needs, wants, and wishes effectively. Communication is the foundation upon which strong relationships and meaningful friendships are built, and we strive to foster this from an early age. Friendships themselves are nurtured through mutual respect, and we encourage this in all of our interactions.
We understand that children learn best through hands-on experience, and it is through doing that they develop a sense of confidence, learn essential problem-solving skills, and gain a deeper understanding of who they are. We place great emphasis on helping children develop resilience and a positive sense of self, as these are vital in all aspects of their future development.
It is also important that children learn how to maintain a healthy mind and body, and we aim to provide them with the experiences and knowledge that will equip them for this. Promoting physical health, mental well-being, and emotional resilience is key in laying a strong foundation for lifelong health.
Additionally, we recognise the importance of helping children understand the community they live in and the wider world. By developing an awareness of their place in society, children will be encouraged to take an active role, be responsible, and develop empathy for those around them.
Each age group follows a progressive sequence of skills and knowledge to be developed within the six key areas of learning. This ensures that children build upon the skills and concepts they have already mastered, allowing for continuous growth and development as they move through different stages of their learning journey.
Our curriculum is tailored to meet the individual needs of each child, ensuring it aligns with their IEPs and EHCPs.
